Applying for a Tutor Account
1) Applying for a Tutor Account
As a part of the tutor application process, you'll need to submit a photo, a short sample video clip and your resume. Our email response takes 1~ 5 business days.
2) Your Tutor Profile and available work-times
When completing your Tutor Profile you will be asked to indicate your available work-times and your preferred start date. This information will be used to formulate your schedule of availability.

* The vast majority of our students prefer regular scheduling with the same tutor. By regular scheduling we mean sessions that are booked in consecutive weekly appointments, either once or twice a week. As our courses can extend in length anywhere from 5 months to 10 months, we ask all tutors to commit to at a fixed schedule (that you set) for at least 40 consecutive weekly sessions. (10 months).
3) The Tutorial Connection Test (TCT)
All tutor applicants must successfully complete the Tutorial Connection Test in order to appear in the Seer English Tutor Directory.
The Tutorial Connection Test is a way for us to test your device and to make certain that you’re comfortable using the tools and features of our online classroom. After you get the Tutorial Connection Test email notification, please prepare for the TCT by logging to our website: t.seerenglish.com to review these TCT documents 'Instruction for TCT', 'Teaching Textbook' and 'Teaching Demo' video to prepare for the TCT , then book your Tutorial Connection Test (TCT) as early as possible.
During the TCT, you'll be expected to conduct a short sample tutoring session using material accessible through the 'TCT Textbook' button on our website: t.seerenglish.com. In addition to listening for fluency and clear diction, we'll be looking to see how you get your student actively involved in back-and-forth dialogue.
Remember, as a tutor with Seer English your primary role will be to develop your student's speaking skills.
4) Activating your Tutor Account
If you successfully complete the Tutorial Connection Test, you will be contacted by email within 48 hours. At this point, you have to check your email or log in to our website: t.seerenglish.com to active your Tutor Account by yourself.
After your Tutor Account is activated, your Tutor Profile will appear in our Tutor Directory. This includes your photo, video message and your available work-times. When a student selects one of your sessions, we will send you a Booking Request by email. We will also ask you to confirm acceptance of the booking request within 24 hours of receipt.
Tutoring with Seer English

1) Session duration
We offer sessions of 25 minutes. Our two consecutive 25 minute sessions (50 minute no break) are the most popular selection among older students.
2) Session formats
Please note that tutors are paid on a per session basis not on a per student basis. However, group tutoring sessions and semi-private sessions are still paid at a higher rate than private one-on-one sessions.
3) Your trial sessions
Our students prefer long-term regular scheduling with the same tutor, and they usually make their tutor selections after their trial sessions. What's more, all our students prefer a friendly and extroverted online persona and are eager to book with engaging tutors.
4) Feedback report
Please provide your student with a feedback report at the end of every session. This feedback report is a required part of your tutoring with Seer English.
Please note, you will not be paid if your feedback report is not submitted within 12 hours after your tutoring session.
Please start all tutoring sessions on time and to remain at your computer for the entire session. Also, please be sure that you have reviewed the learning materials you will be using with your student.
Starting a session late or leaving a session early may affect your payments as they are based on completing a full session.
Your tutoring sessions
Booking Requests can only be made within your preferred work-times - the days and times you specified as available for tutoring.
1) Changing your preferred work-times
Please note that modification to a pre-established tutoring schedule may result in a reduced rate of payment or the deactivation of your Tutor Account.
2) Reliability and punctuality
As Seer English is a platform that functions on an appointment basis, reliability and punctuality are very important for our service to run smoothly. Our unique rewards model is designed to reward those tutors who help us toward this goal.
3) Rescheduling booked sessions
If you have to reschedule a pre-booked session to another day/time, please contact our Tutor Support Team by clicking 'My home' - 'Message' on our website or by email: email@example.com at least 48 hours before the start of the session.
Please note that any change to your pre-scheduled sessions may result in a reduced rate of payment or the deactivation of your Tutor Account.
4) Missing or canceling a booked session
Please note that missing a booked session or canceling without proper advance notification, may result in a reduced rate of payment or the deactivation of your Tutor Account.
This is something that we don't want to do. Please help us out and make every effort to keep your appointments and provide us with adequate notice as early as possible via 'My home' - 'Message' on our website or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
5) Interrupted Sessions
If your tutoring session should become interrupted for any reason, please note the time of the interruption and take a print screen, if possible, and then report this to our Tutor Support Team via 'My home' - 'Message' on our website or by email: email@example.com as soon as you're able.
Please note that should your session become interrupted, you'll be compensated for the amount of time that you spent actively tutoring your student.
6) Tutoring problems
If you have any issues during your tutoring session, please report the situation to our Tutor Support Team via 'My home' - 'Message' on our website or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as you are aware of a problem.
7) Communicating with your student
To avoid miscommunication, please do not email or message your students about requests to cancel or reschedule sessions. All communications should be done through the Tutor Support Team via 'My home' - 'Message' on our website or by email: email@example.com.
8) Pausing your tutoring sessions
If you temporarily become unavailable to tutor new or existing students, you may pause your tutoring sessions at any time. Please provide us with at least 10 days prior notice.
To pause your tutoring sessions, please contact our Tutor Support Team via 'My home' - 'Message' on our website or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please provide us with at least 10 days prior notice.
Please note, if you do not provide us with at least 10 days prior notice for pausing your tutoring sessions, your reward points will be affected.
If you are pausing your tutoring sessions, we ask that you be sure to inform your students of your plans, and let your students know that they will be scheduled with another tutor.
Please note, if you pause your tutoring sessions for longer than 15 consecutive days, our system automatically deactivates your Tutor Account. This will affect your eligibility for rewards that are part of our Tutor Recognition Plan. You'll need to start at the beginning once your Tutor Account is reactivated.
9) Canceling your Tutor Account
Please note, if you do not provide us with at least 10 days prior notice for canceling your Tutor Account, your reward points will be affected.
If you are canceling your Tutor Account, we ask that you be sure to inform your students of your plans, and let your students know that they will be scheduled with another tutor.
Communicating with our Tutor Support Team

2) Reporting no-shows
In the case of a missed session (also known as a “no show”) on the part of the student, please report this situation to the Tutor Support Team via 'My home' - 'Message' on our website or by email: email@example.com as soon as you’re able. They will get in touch with you to arrange a make-up class at your convenience.
Please also note that our rewards model is designed to compensate those tutors who are inconvenienced by a missed session.
3) Canceled sessions
In the case of a student canceling a prescheduled session without proper advance notice, you will be compensated through our rewards model.

Tutor are paid up to $25 CAD per hour. This includes a personalized feedback report that tutors are required to submit immediately following the session.
We also offer a unique rewards model that allows tutors to boost their earnings.
2) Receiving payment
Tutors are paid every two week as a pay period via PayPal in Canadian funds.
